Rhett's notes: An emotional film, that moves quite quickly through subplots and minor characters. The standout scene is the ailing Remy closing his eyes and recalling the scene from 'Cielo sulla palude' (Sky over the Marshland), where Ines Orsini wades into a river with a skirt above her legs)

Trivia: It is the first sequel ever to win the Academy Award Best Foreign Film. (Original was called 'Decline of the American Empire'
